Middle schools in Dongcheng District have turned crises into opportunities during the battle for epidemic prevention and control, seized the opportunity to create new models of education, organized students to participate in the fight against the epidemic in various ways, and guided students to express their patriotism and strengthen their will for constructing our nation.

The grade three senior high students of Beijing Guangqumen Middle School held the theme essay activity of flower blossom on the “epidemic” road. The students were encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings since the outbreak of the epidemic in the form of essay. Fighting against the “epidemic” was used as teaching material to guide students to care about the people’s livelihood and our country, and to understand the responsibility of the youth. The students proceeded from what they saw, heard, and felt, and the theme involved transforming the epidemic from “How could crisis prosper the country” into a training experience; understand the beauty of human nature and the power of ideals through the word of “heroes in harm’s way”; analyze the psychological motivation of the rumor spreaders and call on people around to let “rumors stop at the wise men” in response to the spread of online rumors during the epidemic, etc. The school displays students’ works in the form of official accounts to provide students with space for exchange of ideas at the special time. Beijing 166 Middle School launched a painting activity on the theme of “Express Great Love with the Pen of Teenagers”. Under the guidance of art teachers, the students took up their brushes and expressed their respect for the “heroes in harm’s way” and their confidence in overcoming the epidemic as soon as possible. Under the guidance and organization of the art teachers, the students of Beijing Wenhui Middle School took up the brushes and recorded the touching moments of people fighting against the “epidemic” and expressed their best wishes for the “heroes in harm’s way” around them with pictures. Among them, the works of 13 students were enrolled in the ‘Children’s Hearts Light the Starlight –Art Work Sale of Fighting Against the Epidemic”, which was organized by the People’s Fine Arts Publishing House. All sale returns were donated for fighting against the epidemic. The middle school affiliated to the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts launched an “Emotion and Art” micro-display activity.
