The Ninth Willow Culture Festival Was Held successfully

  From April 5 to 7, the 9th Willow Culture Festival was successfully held in Liuyin Park. Ma Hong, Director of Beijing Forestry Carbon Administration (BFCA), Ji Jianwei, Deputy Director of Beijing Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Center (BWRRC), Shao Dan, Director of Environmental Education of Beijing Forestry Society (BFS), and the leaders of Dongcheng District Landscaping Bureau and Landscaping Management Center attended the opening ceremony. The theme of this annual event was "People, Like the Spring Breeze, Spread the Willow Culture". A willow leaf-shaped boat decorated with traditional Chinese character "柳(Liu)" and beautiful flowers were set up in the square of east gate to help Liuyin Park carry forward the traditional culture.

  At the opening ceremony, guests and visitors were brought into a rich cultural atmosphere by singing and dancing, the poetry reading about willow praise, calligraphy multitasking, square dancing, traditional attire dance, FuXi ceremony (The Chinese traditional ceremony held by the water in the open air to get rid of bad luck and pray for blessing by washing oneself off dirt). More than 50 foreign friends from Beijing International Chinese College interacted with traditional Chinese calligraphy teachers on site to promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.

  This festival involved a number of activities, such as hard-tipped calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, popular science exhibition and publicity, and visitors' art exhibitions. More than 80 popular science exhibition boards about willow culture and Qingming culture were set up, and over 20,000 relative materials were distributed to popularize traditional culture and ecological knowledge. In addition, the second season of "Born with Talent" story club, experiential activities of willow culture and nature, young pioneers Arbor Day activities, the art performance presented by Golden Snail Mental Disorders Family Service Center and labor skills show brought more cultural experience and profound connotation of willow culture from multiple perspectives for visitors.

  During the three-day event, the 9th Willow Culture Festival received more than 15,000 tourists and draw extensive media attention. 10 media outlets including BTV, HBTV, Beijing Daily, Beijing Youth Daily, and People's Daily conducted live coverage, and the webcast of opening ceremony was broadcast by "China Youth Online".
