2013 Imperial City International Tourism Culture Series and Imperial City Low-Carbon Cycling Start

  On the morning of May 19, 2013, the launching ceremony of Imperial City International Tourism Culture Series and Imperial City Low-Carbon Cycling was held in front of the Meridian Gate of Forbidden City. The director of Municipal Tourism Commission Lu Yong, vice president of Palace Museum, Feng Nai’en, the Director of Information Center of National Tourism Administration, Hou Zhengang, vice director of Tian'anmen Square management committee, Zhou Xu, the captain of 14th detachment of armed police Liu Yanwu and political commissar Wang Jianhua, district leaders Yang Liuyin, Jin Hui, Mao Jiong, Gao Guiqiang, Chen Zhichang attended the launching ceremony.
  The launching ceremony, the district leaders awarded letters of 2013 Imperial City cultural promotion volunteers to 10 outstanding representatives from various areas such as the Olympic champion Zhang Shan and the performing artist of Jingyuntaigu(story-telling in Beijing dialect with drum accompaniment) Yang Fei. The volunteer of 2011 Imperial City cultural promotion and famous performing artist Feng Yuanzheng initiated low-carbon cycling. District secretary Yang Liuyin announced the start of 2013Imperial City International Tourism and Culture Series. After the ceremony, led by leaders, five riding teams composed of 86 people representing professional bicycle club members, foreign friends, young couples, college students and senior riders began low-carbon cycling from the Meridian Gate.
  The experiencing routes consisted of central axis line World Heritage Tour, Northern Line Sinology tour, Northern Line creative tour, midline celebrity tours, and other South line non-heritage tour covering five different styles of theme. The riders were expected to complete different tasks challenge and share their traveling experience on microblogs. For the convenience of residents and visitors to participate in low-carbon cycling, District Tourism Commission, District Tourism Association and District Chengguan Committee have adjusted and optimized bike rental sites around the Temple of Heaven, Qianmen, Nanluoguxiang, Confucius Temple and other major tourist attractions where cycling tour maps were available. Tourists could load cycling route maps on the phones by scanning the two-dimensional code on the maps. Those steps enabled tourists as well as citizens to make effective use of 92 bike rental points and 3000 sets of rental equipment and five well-designed travel routes provide chances for people to have a taste of the imperial charm.
  2013 Imperial City international tourism and cultural activities, in the continuation of the essence of previous series of Imperial City International Tourism Festival Imperial, continue to focus on theme of exploring the Imperial City and Promoting the harmony of Heaven, Earth and Man. This year is 860th anniversary Beijing’s being capital, which is a good chance to promote the Imperial City tourism resources. This activity will last two weeks, starting from May 19 to May 31, including Imperial city low-carbon cycling tour, Museum collection tour in honor of 860th anniversary, Imperial Summer gastronomic tour, boutique hotel experience tour, Imperial City Tourism and Culture Salon covering all aspects such as food, housing, transportation, travel, shopping and entertainment in the hope that more people could have chances to experience history and customs of Dongcheng District.
